Photographer Timur Abasov became a mime artist for a month and a half to shoot a series about the production of the opera Prince Igor.
The world-famous opera by Russian composer Alexander Borodin will be presented in the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater in a completely new interpretation: musical numbers that have never been performed before in the stage version will be performed; the order of scenes has been reconstructed and supplemented according to Borodin's claviers.
[Note: Borodin wrote this opera for 18 years, but died before it was finished. The work was completed by Alexander Glazunov and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.]
Much attention is paid to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century opera house, when Prince Igor was first staged. For this purpose, the Belgian stage director Sigrid T'Hooft had to use all available archive materials. A foreign specialist - artist Stefan Dietrich from Germany - was also invited to work on the visual component. The musical director is Valery Platonov, chief conductor of the theater, Honored Art Worker of Russia.
